Segway Mentors Local Team at FIRST Robotics Granite State Competition

Last weekend, several members of Segway’s Product Development Team assisted local entrant Team 166 Chop Shop at the FIRST Robotics Granite State Competition at the Verizon Wireless Center, in Manchester, NH. Ron Reich and Soundar Manthiri mentored the team from the outset, providing the technical guidance to help the team finish their project and submit it for competition.

Team 166 Chop Shop was awarded the Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control System Award, in large part to Soundar’s involvement. Congrats to all involved!

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), founded by Dean Kamen, challenges teams and mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week time frame using a standard ‘kit of parts’ and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in the various competitions at the local, regional, and national levels. For more, visit FRC’s website.

Thank you Segway for your support! We had a great traction control system thanks to mentoring from Soundar. This along with other sensor use, a great software student and mentor team, and good documentation help us win the Control Systems award! -Beth
